Appointment Policy

Our Doctors and staff at Kids Dental Care are committed to providing your child with the highest quality of dental care in a gentle, efficient and professional manner.  We place a great deal of importance on establishing lasting relationships with our families, based upon mutual trust and open communication. We invite your questions and value any suggestions that you may have.

Scheduling Appointments

Thank you very much for trusting your child’s dental health with our practice. For your convenience, patients are seen by appointment only, so please call in advance to reserve a time for your child with our professional staff.

We attempt to schedule appointments in an efficient manner to address total treatment of the patient in a minimum number of appointments and with consideration of time constraints of parents.  Preschoolers are seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done, or with apprehension, are also seen in the morning for the same reasons.  Missing school can be kept to a minimum with routine preventive dental care.  If your child needs to miss school for dental care, please remember that dental appointments are an excused absence.  Our business staff can provide you with a school note at the end of the appointment.

Please understand that your responsibility to keep the appointment begins at the moment you reserve your child’s appointment.  In order to make it fair for everyone, please consider your schedule carefully and don’t commit to a time that you feel may be questionable.

Confirming Appointments

As a courtesy to our patients, our staff attempts to confirm your child’s appointment 48 hours in advance.   If our staff is unable to confirm your child’s appointment, you are still responsible for remembering and showing up for your appointment.  Your cooperation in keeping your child’s appointments as scheduled, regardless of whether we have been able to confirm your appointment, will enable us to make your child’s dental visits comfortable and pleasant.

Please keep your appointment card in a visible location in your house and, if possible, it may help to schedule the appointment in your cell phone or other electronic device.

Emergency Care

We make every effort to be on time for our patients and we realize that your time is as important as ours.  Unlike adult dental offices, pediatric dental practice’s scheduling is less predictable because children are less predictable.  Some children and parents require more time than we were able to predict and some require less time.  In addition, the pediatric population has more dental injuries than the adult population.  Also, we make it our policy to see dental emergency patients on the same day they call.  Most parents understand this and thank us for taking the time during our day to see their injured child.  Because of this, pediatric dental practices tend to run behind more than adult dental offices.   Therefore, we thank you in advance for understanding and want you to know that we will always be there for you if your child has a dental emergency.

Appointment Cancelations

Since appointed times are reserved exclusively for each patient, we ask that you please notify our office 48 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to keep your appointment.  Another patient who needs our care could be scheduled in your reserved spot if we have sufficient time to notify them.  No charge will be made for rescheduled appointments provided at least 48 hours notice is given.  If you have a personal emergency, please let us know as soon as possible.
